I think the easiest thing would be to do sets of 3 for awhile, see how they go, and then plan a slightly more complicated program from there. How's your form?
I'm a M/46/5'5/187 currently doing LP with 1 day on/2 days off. Nutrition is good. Sleep is good.
I'm micro loading the press with 1kg (2.2lb) increments and resting up to 10 minutes between sets. I've been just about getting my 3x5 each workout but bar speed is getting very slow, and I feel I probably won't get 3x5 next time.
Just thinking of some possible options.
(1) Drop to 0.5kg (1.1lb) increments.
(2) Do some sets of 3, perhaps as described by Wolf here.
(3) Do some volume work at ~90% on bench day. Would this be enough to maintain 1kg increments?
I would really appreciate some advice so I can keep making progress.
