It is quite possible to lose weight while gaining strength. Several have done it and several more are doing it now. Check the novice posts and several others and ask questions on the Nutrition area. It is easier to lose weight while young.

Step 1) Get OP to start doing the program
    Step 2) ?
    Step 3) Profit

The goal of the program is make a trainee very strong very fast. At the worst he will gain weight over 8 - 9 months of a solid LP. Nutrition can indeed be adjusted to meet body recomposition goals, but first and foremost he needs to fuel the workouts and provide adequate protein for growth. And that’s all irrelevant if the trainee does not commit to doing the program in the first place.

Who has told him not to worry about his body fat? I see three people in this thread telling him to try to lose weight, including you. With a 45-inch waist, he can probably lose weight while doing the program. Like you said, he’s carrying around a lot of extra energy already. But LP only lasts a few months, and it will be a lot easier for him to lose weight when he’s 240 pounds and squatting over 300 than weighing 260 and squatting a hundred.

    jbackos,

I didn't say "don't worry about his bodyfat." Reread my comment. He'll probably lose weight as he prioritizes getting strong.

SS is criticized in open forums because they don't know what the fuck they are talking about, and they have no idea about what we actually do.

Prioritize strength. Do the program first, then see where you are in regards to bodyfat after you’ve gotten strong.
This is a perfect example of why the community at large criticizes this program. Here is a guy who is obviously unhealthily fat and you are telling him to ignore the weight loss and just get strong.

You and several other forum users here are completely missing the point.
