And I was hoping Colorado!
I am in process of moving from NYC to Texas this week, and will have much more limited time than usual to check and reply to the forum. If your question hasn't received a reply in the usual timely manner, fret not, Dear Reader. Whatever I can't get to during the week, I'll catch up on when I'm settled in and back to my usual mischief in about a week or so.
And I was hoping Colorado!
Sorry to disappoint.
Austin is an expensive city for Texas, but compared to living in Chelsea in Manhattan, it's still super cheap. The difference in rent, gas prices, lack of having to pay for parking the last few months since I got a car, food costs - added to the lack of state income tax - leads to a very significant reduction in my cost of living, instantly.
Ha! Maybe this is just the next step in my LP. From NYC, a reasonable jump is Austin. Then Dallas, then Ft. Worth, then a suburb of Ft. Worth, then a ranch in the true 'real' Texas.
