Deadlift question - Copeland
Hi Wolf,
I’m currently in Texas Method 4 day split and just wrapped up week 4.
Here has been the weekly programming and the weights (in lbs) are this past week:
Monday
Press 172.5x5x1
Bench 190x5x5
Tuesday
Squat 315x5x5
Barbell Row 225x6x3
Thursday
Bench 215x5x1
Press 155x5x5
Friday
Squat 355x5x1
Deadlift 425x5x1 (couldn’t quite lock out last rep)

All lower body and bench progressions have been adding 5 pounds and press has been 2.5
My questions are:
1. is it time to drop to sets of three for the deadlift or should I try again for 425x5x1 next week?
2. Is Tuesday’s pulling sufficient or does that need to change?

This isn't the form check forum, but you do have some form issues it would help to clean up, and it also look like the inability to lock out fully was a grip issue.
I'd probably do one lighter DL set of 5 on Tuesdays, and then 2-3 sets of 5-6 BB Rows as back offs. DL set probably starting at something like 335.
Just g o up to 430 and try for it again next week. If you miss again, switch down to two triples. Make sure you've got chalk on and have the bar in the right spot, down at the bottom of the fingers, not up at the top of the palm.
