Default Wrist injury: fissure of the TFCC

    Hello there,

First off all, I should mention that I tried to translate the medical terms from French so I hope to be accurate enough.
So, during a completely missed power clean, I injured my right wrist. I did an MRI, which revealed a fissure on the triangular fibrocartilage complex. More precisely, its proximal and radial portion (this is where I am not fully sure about my translation). The fissure goes to half the ligament thickness. My physician asked for advices to two surgeons, specialist of the wrist and both said that surgery wasn’t needed. Thus, my physician suggested letting it heal and come back after about six months if some pain is still there.

While it was painful the first few days to the point of having trouble turning a key, it is much better now after four months but I can feel that it is still not completely solved. I have tried to include power clean again but it is usual that I feel more pain there the day(s) following the power clean day but not to the extent of the one felt the few days after the accident.

I would like to know if anyone here would have some experience with similar issue, e.g. a coach who would have had a trainee with that. If yes, how did you worked around it? Did do something to facilitate recovery? Etc. any tips are welcome.

    Thanks,
    François.

This would probably be a better question for the Rip Q&A.

I know very little about this injury, but I would say that you should probably stop power cleaning for a while. You'll need to stress that part of the body during the healing time, but power cleans are probably just going to make it worse if not just more difficult.
