Hello I was recently asked a question about training people with severe lordosis and scoliosis and I wonder what is your advice for programming deadlifts and squats for people with one of those conditions. I understand the benefits of strength training and I have personally trained people with lower back pain but I have never come across a person with severe scoliosis or lordosis. My understanding is that properly executed squats and deadlifts are safe and can or even should be done by the majority of the population including those with back conditions. My answer was that squats and deadlifts are safe as long as a person is able to execute the move correctly, obviously starting with small weights. Are there any assistance exercises you would recommend for people who could not execute deadlift safely due to very bad scoliosis for example? And is it possible to reverse scoliosis and lordosis by using starting strength method?
Thank you in advance.
