Hi Rip,

I've been doing the novice program for about 4 months, and in my last session (last Monday) I squatted 127.5kg (281lb). On the last rep of the second set, I heard and felt a really loud crack in my lower back, and it felt like something popped out sideways.

I stopped straight away and went to a physio, who couldn't find anything majorly wrong, and she couldn't really explained what had happened. Only a little bit of soreness, so hopefully I can get back to lifting within a week or so, but it's really shaken me. What happened? Is this sort of event unusual? Did I just get lucky, and could the injury have been much worse? Will it be a lot worse if it happens again? And how do I stop it happening again?
