Hello, im 21 years old and have been weigth training for two years.

I have some troubles during squatting. When i squat the bar is not horizontal and i tend to favorite one side. And also my right hip dips in the bottom of the squat. I have been diagnosed with a shorter leg, it is the left that is shorter, its 2 cm shorter than the right leg. I have built up my shoes, but the problems are still there.

Btw: It is the femur not the tibia that is shorter.

Here is a video of my squat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Lum7hULHb0

If anyone have any ideas of whats going on please help me

So, if you're wearing a built up left shoe and the bar leans down to the right, why not try level shoes and see how it goes? I'm no professional, but "one leg shorter" sounds like the words of those chiropractors who cure the flu with "alignments".

I had x-rays done on my spine, hips and legs. The x-rays showed that my left leg was 2 cm shorter than the right.

Do you have a video of you squatting in normal shoes for refrence? I'm not an expert, but making tibia longer might make the problem (caused by short femur) even more pronounced. I'm sure the special shoe helps in walking, but that might not be the case in squats, if you consider the hip and knee angles in squat.

Btw, have you asked Coach Rip about this?

I can't see where the bar is on your back, but it doesn't seem like the bar is really uneven until you start wiggling around after you unrack it. Have you tried a Starting Strength LBBS? Like with the whole set-up started over, placing your hands on the bar properly, making sure the bar is in the right spot, and knowing where to put your feet. I'm not sure that a 2cm difference would cause the whole side of your body to be so much lower than the other, by the time the wiggling is over your shoulder/hand/etc are noticably lower than the other side.

Unless you've reversed the video, I don't see how a shorter left leg is causing that bar position. It's higher on your left side.

What does it look like when you squat without the lift?
