1. See if you can tolerate the Wed. workout. It may need to be very light. If it is too much, drop it.
2. Monday would be the volume day. But 8-10 reps is not the Texas way.
3. Sure.
Hi Ripp,
I'm going to start Texas next Monday and I wanted to ask:
1. Since my age (44) should I change somehow the classic template i.e. should I avoid Squats on Wednesday? I ask you because it seems that I still can squat 3xweek but in your experience is it safe?
Any other generic advices about it are welcome!!
2. If I would put a higher reps day(say 8-10 reps), it would be better Monday since it's volume day, or Friday?
3. Thanks a lot as usual!

Ok Ripp,
Just to say (and there’s been a discussion over this on the forum lately), at the intermediate level one should be able to choose the way to go. Powerlifting, Bodybuilding, something in between maybe? Let’s say that someone who’s linear gains are over decides to “work for the mass” for awhile with a higher reps range, still keeping the strength workout simply doing at least 1 high reps workout, and 5x5 or maybe 3x5 another day (as you stated in PPST2). So he decides to run Texas which is one of the options he has after his novice level. Maybe I misunderstood something here? If so I apologize…
At this point why wouldn’t he be doing Texas even if with slightly higher reps?
He’d be doing Monday 4x10 Wed.2x5 – 3x3 Friday 1x5(3/2/1).
I’m not interested myself because I find 5’s are still working pretty well but I couldn’t understand since in the book you say that if hypertrophy is the goal (maybe for sometime) one should keep at least 1 day with those reps range.
So what kind of workout should that boy do then?
Sorry for the silly question is just to clarify in my head and I hope I made myself clear.
Really thanks!
Because the Texas Method doesn't work well with higher reps.
