Wear them on your feet, right shoe on the right foot, left on left. Break them in by training in them heavy.

I guess I've been doing it wrong all along.

Is it normal to feel a deep stretch in the hamstrings when squatting?

got a pair last week, squatted in them, and felt my knees were coming too far forward (knees hurt afterwards too). I also felt like my back was too upright like a high bar squat. I'm gonna give em a try again on saturday, see how I feel. I'll videotape a set of squats to analyze whats going on.

    anyone else have this problem?

    I switched from chucks

It is normal to feel sore hamstrings from squatting if you are squatting correctly. And a change from flat shoes to WL shoes with heels might well produce sore knees unless form was adjusted to compensate for the change. You'll have to work more on sitting back until your form is set. And squatting in sandals is kinda not the same as using actual weightlifting shoes, for the hundreds of reasons already discussed.

You actually lift in those? Those have to be the worst thing you could possibly lift in. Squishy sole? Check. Zero foot containment? Check. Zero foot protection? Check.

Do yourself a favor and get some real lifting shoes. The difference will blow your mind.
