    Default BCAA's instead of whey?

Could one supplement using BCAA's instead of whey protein powder?

I had a look online and found that around 8grams of BCAA's was the equivalent of 40g of whey protein?

Will try and dig up the article.

What do you know on this Mr F?

They are equivalent, more or less, insofar as mTOR signaling from leucine/valine/isoleucine is concerned. On the flip side, whey protein has more calories and essential amino acids, which also contribute to protein synthesis. Plus whey is cheaper.

So no, they're not really equivalent, but both are useful in similar ways.

    BCAA's don't stink up a shaker-cup if left unrinsed.
Clearly a superior product unless your cup-budget is galactic...

This may be a really stupid question, and feel free to ridicule me if it is, but 8 grams of BCAA's is still 8 grams of protein in your macro count right?

Yes, though my protein recommendations typically are "in addition" to any BCAA dosing, except in select cases.

So,do we need to track the BCAA to the Myfitnessfal by adding 28cals and 7g of protein per one scoop of Xtend?

and do i need to lower my food protein intake by 40grams if i take a BCAA 40grams a day?
i.e. Now my low day protein is 265g.(excpet BCAA)
Chainging-> 225g+40g of BCAA then adding left cals(40g of protein i didn't track)to the carb or fat.

    and What is select cases?

    No

People who are getting a high amount of their dietary protein from BCAAs for whatever reason, i.e. a special low protein diet to comply with existing medical advice/practice, protein intolerance, vegetarianism.
