    Default Deadlift, time between reps?

I am doing SS, imagine that, and last week I hit a Deadlift set of 5 @335. The problem was that I felt like I was taking a little to much time between reps, probably 30 seconds to 1 minute.Time increasing a bit as the set went on. The next DL workout I attempted 345 and failed. I think it was more of a mental failure as I had never broken 345 of the ground before, and my head was not really in the lift. Also was the first time having 3 45's on each side (before that I had to use a 35 and 10+ to get over 315)

I looked throught the book again and could not find an answer to this question, and I could not remember the answer from the first time I read the book.

So how much time is acceptable between reps on the Deadlift?

Anything more than a few seconds and you're really doing singles. Singles with short rest.

Enough for there to be a pause, but no more. The longer you hang out in the down position, the more tightness you lose and the less air you can get. You don't want touch-and-go's (unless you're training for a contest that allows them), but their should be a rythym to your reps, with a short count between each rep. Like already said, you're doing singles, not sets.

Depnding on the weight, if I'm doing a set of 3 or more I will actualy reset completely, standing up, reset my feet, take in some air, set myself, pull, repeat, etc...

Like others have said, a few breaths and no more is okay.

I put it down, re-tighten my back and off I go.

What everyone else has said, I take a breath or two and repeat. Maybe 5 seconds, up to 10 if I have to reset for some reason.

More than two breaths and you're pulling singles.
