    Question:

Would you ever recommend high bar squats instead of low bar squats in a case where the low bar position presents a back angle that is 'too horizontal' due to innate limb length proportions?

Is there such thing as "too horizontal" provided the bar can still safely be held on the back, the bar stays over the midfoot, and depth can be reached?

It would require a very closed hip angle, and consequently a very forward knee position. Not optimum.

Is it possible for a technically perfect LBBS to result in knees travelling far beyond the tip of the foot due to the individual's anthropometry alone?

Forward of the toes, certainly. Long femurs/short tibias.

Giri, here is a picture of Niki Sims, a starting strength coach with really long femurs. Her knees go past her toes and she is still performing a very good lbbs.

Would such individuals be at a higher risk of knee injury?

Look at the following individual's squats: Blaine Sumner, Layne Norton, David Ricks, and Kristopher Hunt. Notice the back angle.

Probably not. Hamstrings protect the knees, and as long as technique is correct hamstrings are engaged.
