    Hey Rip,

So I overextended on an RDL and now my lower back is very sore. Its felt this way for5-6 days (since I did that WO). Ive been foam rolling and stretching more than usual since it happened because of the slight discomfort. It is rather sore when I bend over, squat etc... Im a beginner weightlifter (olympic WL) and have been trying to become more flexible in my lumbar area and thought that the pain might be a result of both the over extension and the tons of stretching Ive been doing for that area.

Would you suggest taking a week off or what?

    Thanks,
    Mike

So don't overextend anymore and it will heal. And when was the last time a week's layoff made anything you had wrong get better?

Well, I took off a week for knee tightness and that seemed to work. Actually, I guess it was the foam rolling on my IT band that worked.

I saw an orthopedist yesterday and he thinks its just back spasms and I am extremely tight in that area. He gave me some NSAIDS and relaxers and suggested 2 weeks no lifting and tons of stretching, massage and rolling. I was concerned it was a disc problem but he didnt think it was so I am very happy. I thought I messed my stuff up pretty bad.

    Thanks Rip!

This is shocking: "I saw an orthopedist yesterday and he thinks its just back spasms and I am extremely tight in that area. He gave me some NSAIDS and relaxers and suggested 2 weeks no lifting and tons of stretching, massage and rolling."

Who could have guessed he say that??
