I just bought some used rusty plates. Anybody know how to get the rust off of them. I soaked one plate overnight in Pepsi - but that didnt really work. Any ideas?

Not sure if that would work. Maybe.

I was thinking media blasting (sand/bead whatever). You can hire them but it might make a mess. Otherwise most shops have a booth that you can just stick the plate in and probably only take about 5-10 minutes a plate.

If a power washer can do it, that might be easiest to just hire one. I'd ask about that one.

Are the car wash power washers as strong as the commercial ones?

    Somehow, I doubt it.

A car power washer is NOT going to get rust off.

    Yeah, didn't think so.

What about the rust remover stuff that you can buy from hardware stores like Lowe's?

Also, i'm wondering if the weight of the plates won't be off a bit after the rust is removed. Seems like it would.
