    Default When to go face the competition?

    • starting strength seminar april 2024
    • starting strength seminar jume 2024
    • starting strength seminar august 2024
    Since I was 5 yrs old I played competed sports, College ball, and semi pro soccer. About 4 months a took on another challenge and that was to get 70s big and get as strong as shit. I gave up soccer and since then I have nothing that involves serious competition. I love competition and I wanted to know, when should I enter a meet? Below are my 3 basic lifts and my PRs.


    Body weight 200 lbs

    Bench Press 3x5 300lbs (Last max was about 4 mths ago and I got 325)

    Squat 3x5 280lbs (Last max 180 about 4 mths ago)

    Deadlift 1x390 (Last max 315 about 4 mths ago)

    My upper is way ahead of my lower, and I am working on it. As you can see from 4 mths ago my lower have came a long ways.

    I also wanted to give credit to Nisora33, he was the one that got me where I am now. When I started SS I was 160ish, and now at 200lbs. All my lifts has went up as you can see. He is a great guy and a wonderful trainer! Thanks Stacey.

    Thanks! I was always had a strong bench, but legs I all ways hated.

    Do it as soon as possible, competing is a blast no matter what you lift. You could do 135# and people would still be supportive and friendly, and you'd still have fun. Be familiar with the particular rules of the federation you'll be lifting in, you don't want to get burned and miss a rep you made because you did some silly thing wrong. Get that squat up!

    What is 135#? Im all new to this and I have alot to learn.

    135# means 135 pounds.

    Just go for it man. People at meets are really friendly and supportive from what I've seen. As long as you show up and put forth an effort you will be accepted. Alot of the time all the other lifters are too busy thinking about their own attempts to notice what you're lifting anyways.
