    Default Pause or Add Weight?

My last Standing Presses were tough.

I finished the 3 work sets of 5, but I'm wondering if I should not add weight (2.5 lbs) this session to avoid a possible failure/re-set. Does it make more sense to add the weight and fail? My understanding is that a person can attempt a weight 3 times before requiring reset?

    Thanks.

I bet you can do it even though the last time it was hard. That you got stronger in between is the whole point of linear progression.

Another option is to take smaller jumps on the press.

Well you should try to add wight, and a 2.5lb jump for the press is OK. You shouldn't add wieght only if you cann't complete the 3x5 across.

Add weight. Consider finding a way to microload even smaller.

What weight are you pressing? How long have you been taking 2.5 lb jumps?
