I'm trying to practice Power cleans with a 45lb bar to add them into my routine. At the top of the move, I keep hitting the throat/neck area with the bar. Is this common or am I doing something wrong?

I'm bringing the elbows up at the end, pointing straight ahead.

This can be cured by adding more weight to the bar.

    Duh.

Sometimes if you're letting the bar go out instead of up, you have to bring it back and it whacks your throat...

That is exactly what I'm doing. I'm going out more than up. Thanks for the tip.
