I'm on SS but I have recently hurt my knees. I haven't squatted or deadlifted for a week, and my knees haven't healed yet. Can I do any other exercises in the meanwhile to work my lower body that don't involve knee extension?

Glute-ham raises and goodmornings. I stopped squatting for a month because of knee pain and didn't lose any weight off my max squat because of these. Good luck!

Thanks. Did you do these on alternate days then?

I substituted goodmornings for squats and used glute-ham raises for assistance.

Glute Ham Raise is your best bet. That's what I did.

I have looked in my gym and they don't have a glute ham bench, so I think I will have to stick with GMs.

I did those, too. Got up to 155lbs. Found them to be very helpful once I returned to proper lifting. I did straight back GMs. I think there's a round back variant.

They hurt when I bend them. They also hurt when I go up and down steps. I haven't squatted for 2 weeks, so the pain has eased off. I think that it must have been caused by squatting incorrectly, but I had practiced sports before and I had had some minor issues with my knees.

Get an ortho to look at it. It's taken from mid-December to now for my knees to heal 90%.
