Are we using Rippetoe's definition of novice (anyone who can linearly progress) or some other definition?
Hey guys,
I was inspired by this thread on racing to 225 bench. I'm interested in starting a similar race where novices can pace each other on all the lifts. I don't have any workout partners but realize that group accountability could be a powerful motivator for progress. If there's enough interest, I can make a google spreadsheet where we post our results - it would be awesome to compare new PRs every week.
The goal is to optimize lean mass gain.
A little about where I am (174 lbs):
Squat 235
Bench 140
Press 100
Powerclean 120
Deadlift 245

For comparison reasons the basic strength standards in this table.
I'd be up for that. My bench is at 57.5kg and I started SS a few weeks ago.
Damn, I'm too far. Somebody should make a similar intermediate spreadsheet.
Sweet, I already made a spreadsheet here, you can put in your name yourself, anyone can edit the sheet (honor system). The tabs for different lifts are at the bottom. My first numbers will be up on Wednesday. Peaceerenity, I don't see why you can't be on the sheet if you don't mind pacing against sissies.
While you're at it, you might want to add chinups, dips, and barbell curls to the sheet too (for chinups and dips, just punch in your bodyweight plus whatever weight you've attached and reps into a 1RM calc). I know a lot of people do those.
...I'd do this, but my numbers are all weaksauce. I'm pretty much an Untrained.
