    Default Bench Press Hand Position

The question is kind of simple. Is my hand position too wide, too narrow, or just right?

It looks a little too narrow. Maybe an inch wider on each side.

If I recall correctly, the correct grip width should be so that you forearms are vertical when the bar is touching your chest?

If this grip is comfortable why change it? Also it would be more productive to post a video of your bench press because a picture is not enough. And don't worry you can lift a shitload of weight with close grip bench:

Ok, here's the vid of the set. Sorry for the lousy camera position, my focus was on mainly on my hand position, and I angled the camera accordingly.

Nice set man, way to grind out that last rep. It looks like there are some stability issues, but they should fix themselves over time. That looks like the right grip width for you.

This is correct from the perspective of most efficient force transfer onto the bar. However, many people, myself included, are more comfortable with a closer grip, especially those who have hurt their shoulder in the past. My bench grip has my index right on the beginning of the outer knurling. I may be stronger with a woder more efficient grip, but I'll exchange that for training uninterupted by injury (knock on wood).

    EDIT:
RE: the OP's question, based on the video it looks good.

Do you think any of the stability issues could be caused by his foot / leg movement?

I can't see his feet or most of his legs, so I don't know.
