In his recent book, mass made simple, coach Dan John describes barbell complexes as being on of three integral parts to mass gain, reasoning that barbell complexes increase "time under the bar".
While obviously not appropriate for a novice trainee, I am curious as to your thoughts on this training method for putting on muscle mass in the trained athlete.

It would be nice if people would stop trying to pit one well respected coach against another. Read, experiment, and come to your own conclusions as to which methods work best for you.

That's only contradictory if your thought processes are incapable of going beyond simple words.

DJ did write an article about that once, he kept writing about people saying, "I wonder."

Just try it and see. One session of doing beats ten sessions of wondering.

It's probably all just the diet. "Mass Made Simple" has you eating tons of peanut butter & jelly sandwiches as snacks, while the bodybuilders are pecking away at their dry chicken breasts.

In no way was i attempting to pit one coach agaisnt another, i read and respect both Dan John and Mark and was interested in one's view on the training philosophy of another, thats all.

There would be no civilization if great minds weren't pitted against eachother. That's how shit gets done.
