A damned impressive video. The split clean was not "taken out." It has merely been replaced by the more efficient (for most people) squat clean.

It's "just" 380lbs, but it's the first time I see a split clean in competition. I assume it was taken out because (I'm also assuming) you can get less weight in the air with it, or was there another reason?

What is more impressive is the fact that he was able to lower the bar without bumper plates, an amazing accomplishment.
Yes, it was a stunning achievement. Mind-boggling. A unique accomplishment in the history of the barbell sports.
