Are there any Powerlifters here who use or have used the Texas Method?
How was your template set up?

I used it with HS lifters who compete every week or two using 2 ply gear & 2.5m knee wraps. (If that matters.)

I would play with the volume day depending on what we had to do during the athletic period. So after school looked like this:

    Monday
Squat 2-5x5 (tried to increase each week 5-10lbs started off based on 80% of raw squat)
    Bench 2-5x5 (same template)
    DE Deadlift 8x2 @ 65-70% on a 1 minute timer

    Wednesday
Squat 2x5 @ 80% of volume day work
OHP 3x5 (80% to of 1RM to start, adding 2-5lbs each week)
    Power Cleans 3x3

    Friday
    Squat new 1-3RM
    Bench new 1-3RM
    Deadlift new 1-3RM

Friday ran this way for several weeks until 1 week before the competitive season. We transitioned into this for two weeks:

Squat 1 rep w/suit on straps down
    1 rep w/suit on
    1 rep fully equipped
Bench ME single w/shirt and wrist wraps
    4x4 Paused board press
    DL ME Raw single

Once the season started we dropped intensity day and just used the meet as a training/intensity day.

    FWIW.

I used it for a bit. I did it as a split routine.

For peaking at the meet, I would just ramp the intensity day up over time. Let's say you start with a set of 5, over a 12-16 week period (or whatever you have), you can slowly work that up to a solid 1RM. You could also alter the volume day and try 3's (6x3 for instance), but I think that would be optional. You could keep volume on 5's and just adjust the intensity day.
