Felton's Training Log
Since I'm on the site almost everyday, I decided to keep a log posted here too!! My short term goal is to compete in the NASA Master's National Meet (Dallas, TX) in November. Since I have not competed since 2008, this will be my first meet as a "Mature, Over 40" lifter.
My typical training days are as follows:
Sun: Squat+accessory
Mon: Bench+accessory
Wed: DL (conv)+accessory
Fri: Press+accessory
However, this week, my DL say is today (Thursday), due to lack of rest over the past few days, I had to take some time off to sleep!!! (11 hours)!!!
For the first 5 weeks, I'm doing a simple 5x5 routine (sets across) on my main lifts for the day, and I will "sprinkle" as needed with the accessory work. So today's session is
DL: 5x5@315pds.
Front Squat: 3x8@135pd
Vertical Leg Press: 3x8@220pd
Dumbell Row: 4x12-15@50pd
I will provide an update following the session!!

Felton's Training Log
8/1/2013 (Actual)
DL: 3x5@315
Vertical Leg Press: 3x8@210
Deficit DL (standing on 25pd plate): 1x10@225
50 yard farmers walk holding 1-35pd plate in each hand
Note: I was supposed to do 5x5@315 however, my lower back would not stop cramping. So I played it safe...

Hello. Random forum member here. Saw your question in Jordan's nutrition forum. You're of course free to do whatever you think is best and i don't mean any disrespect in suggesting the following, but given your recent BP thing... have you considered taking 6 months to lose 40 -50 lbs of fat so that you can possibly ditch that BP medicine which i assume you're now on ? You're only 40 years old. it's too soon to start getting on all these types of drugs. If you haven't competed since 2008... waiting another 6-12 mo to get to competition won't be that big of a deal, imo.
(assuming you're natty. otherwise, yeah, i don't know how that works)
