Anybody have the joy of night (sleep) cramps in the lower legs? Unusal areas - both legs muscles from ankles up to mid calf on inside/outside of legs and sometimes hamstrings. Only way to get them out is to stand on foot/leg affected. Eating well balanced (a bit skewed to protien) and taking an "old man " multi supplement.

You probably need a magnesium citrate supplement. I like natural calm.

I have had good results dealing with muscle cramps by drinking a glass of tonic water. I read the quinine in the tonic water reduces muscle cramps. It works for me. Regular tonic water has a good amount of sugar. You might want to consider the sugar-free or diet tonic water as an alternative.

A mechanical (i.e.non-chemical) aid to stop muscle cramps is heat. A hot shower or a hot damp towel around the muscle helps stop the cramping.
