Movin' on up to "Competitive Lifter Training Logs" I see. Go for it. I've been watching a lot of Strongman competitions recently. Good stuff, and Brian Shaw is an absolute beast.
Old log is here.
Moving to this section as I'm going to enter a strongman competition some time this calendar year.

Thanks PEB, I'm training by...doing almost nothing for a week and losing 10 pounds. Lots of stress, 80 hour weeks, and a gnarly stress headache that only went away when I turned off my phone all weekend and did not use a computer for a full day.
Today's session was brutal. Barbell, axle, log medleys, prowler and front carry medleys, farmers walks, and just general heavy torture.
I finally quizzed my fellow athletes on what they do for a living. Made me feel better, as I'm the oldest at 35.
Crossfit SF coach (works for Kelly Starrett) and Olympic lifter

So I'm the only desk jockey, and the only dilettante in the group.
I'm going to eat like it's my job this week, block out appointments to lift (or I won't have time), and get back in the saddle.
I'm enjoying getting to work with all the implements, but actually squatting and pressing and deadlifting would probably be a good idea too.

Meh. It was a day.
Just stumbled on your log. Strongman is a blast, staying injury free is the hard part. I kid, sort of I've done a handful and we have a bunch of LW pros and national-level competitors at my gym.
What are you following for programming? Implement work is necessary, but the main barbell lifts make you strong for them.
I'll be following along.
Thanks Jenica, I am doing strongman training one day a week at Jon Andersen's gym in Novato, CA.
I'm going to stick with squatting, pressing, benching, dead lifting, cleaning, chins, and both arm and leg curls Tuesday and Thursday. Apparently bicep and hammy tears are common.
I'm also switching mostly to sets of 8-12, since that's the rep range i understand I'll be called on to do to win. I plan to win.
Goal is to compete in under 200s or Masters.
Lately I'm so darn busy I'm barely punching the clock, but excuse time is over, I'll probably creep back up in weight as I add limit strength, cutting back to about 210 and then cheating my way to 200 for weigh in. I hope to compete at about 210-215.
Today was bare minimum day.
All advice, criticism, and scorn welcome. Not too many 2014 contests listed yet, but right now I'm thinking Oregon Feats of Strength.
Sounds like you have a plan. I have a "normal" job too, and am about your age, and it definitely makes finding training and recovery time difficult. Stress on stress usually. I have reminders set on my phone to do mobility work, leave work to train, and go to bed, lol.
The lure of lifting heavy shit never seems to end though, so we make it happen. Happy lifting!
