Ascending sets for DL?
I while back I posted a question to Rip about quadriceps tendonitis. You and Rip provided some suggestions. I now only squat once per week, wrap my knees, and do 5x5 ascending sets instead of warmups and 3x5. My question is would the 5x5 ascending be too much for deadlifts, or should I stick with 5,5,3,2,1 warmups followed by one work set?
Age 65
Squat x5 220
DLx5 250

It could potentially work ok, especially if your squat volume is down. Although with deadlifts I prefer doing a back off set or two after my main work set as a means of accumulating extra volume.

Thanks, I'll try the backoff sets. I actually answered my question in the gym the other day. Doing 5 rep warmups up to the work set is too much for DL's, at least for me.
