32 year old 6' 2" 178lb Weakling trying to get strong. Started my first workout on August 12, 2015. Making some progress, but my leg strength is out of balance with my upper body. Trying to get rid of the chicken legs.

    Current PRs
    Squat: 205x5x3
    Bench: 182.5x5x3
    Press: 110x5x3
    Deadlift: 260x5x3
    LTE: 80x10x3

    12/9/15
    Light Squat: 165x5x2
    Bench: 185x5x3
    BW Chins: 10, 8, 8

All lifts are moving up, but for some reason my squat does not want to move past 205 yet. Tweaked my back at 210 and worked my way back up. Going to repeat 205 on Friday because I did not get good depth. Body weight is slowly creeping up.

Was excited to do power cleans and have tried from the beginning, but my right wrist will not cooperate. For bench press and press, I use wraps. As long as I keep it in line, it is fine. Hurt my wrist bad playing basketball when I was younger. I cannot perform the movement without significant pain in the right wrist. Even though the bar is caught on the deltoids, the simple act of bending the wrist under is painful and counterproductive to my other lifts. I have been doing barbell rows, but I know that these are no substitute. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Squat: 205x5x3 Fairly easy, good depth; hoping to push through finally.
OHP: 112x5, 112x4, 112x3 Starting to stall a little bit.
Deadlift: 235x5x1 Easy; Deloaded from 260. Had not been deadlifting due to a lower back/hip tweak.
    LTE: 82.5x10, 82.5x10, 82.5x10

Wish I could do dips but I do not have access to a dip station. Wish I had an extra barbell so I could do dips in the rack. Using LTEs instead.

Stopped using a belt on squats. Had been using one on work sets bc I have had some lower back issues in the past. I think I am at too light of a weight for a belt anyway. Seems like I was trying to push on with my abs too much and getting overextended: also feel like I was losing tightness in the bottom at times and relying on the belt. Without the belt I feel like I am making sure that I am staying tight.

Dips are one of the most useful assistance exercises. For a long time I used one barbell and a leftover piece of stair railing resting on the safeties for dipping. When the wood started to creak I got fancy and bought 4' length of 1" black pipe at the home center and screwed flanges to the end so it can't slip out. Recently I found an old (non-olympic) POS barbell someone was throwing out. Improvise!

True. Thanks for the input on that. Need to get some pipe. Don't know why I had it stuck in my mind that I needed another barbell.

Do you know why there are so much extraneous stuff on your thread?

Not sure. Are you talking about the strange formatting? Did I do something stupid when I started the thread? haha

    Default All the blue words.

All the blue words are distracting. Perhaps Stef can help you out.

Oh. Yeah. I am not seeing that when I view my thread. I will check with her.
