    Default Starting Strength Training Log

I've been training on and off with the barbell since I was 16. I feel that my linear progression was half arsed the first time around. I've especially neglected power cleans in the past which I regret, although I did do them. I've decided to go back to the basics and run Starting Strength to see how far I can push linear progression. Once I can no longer handle squat progression three times a week I will utilise front squats on Wednesday. I will start Monday 28/3/2016 at roughly 70-80% of my current rep maxes to give myself some room to adapt.

    Age: 18
    Height: 174cm
    Weight: 80kg
    Body fat: ~18%

    Squat 5RM: 120kg
    Bench press 5RM: 75kg
    Deadlift 5RM: 120kg
    Press 5RM: 55kg

    Monday 28/3/2016

    Squat: 90kg (5/5/5)
    Bench press: 60kg (5/5/5)
    Power clean: 40kg (3/3/3/3/3)
    Chin ups: BW (5/5/5)

Everything felt explosive. Started real light to ensure good form. Power cleans looked okay on camera, need to keep my elbows up though.

    Wednesday 30/3/2016

    Squat: 92.5kg (5/5/5)
    Press: 40kg (5/5/5)
    Deadlift: 90kg (5)
    Curls: 25kg (8/8/8)

Everything went well. Deadlift set up and execution felt excellent, first time I've done them with oly shoes on. Did 10 minutes HIIT on the stationary bike at the end of the session.

    Friday 1/4/2016

    Squat: 95kg (5/5/5)
    Bench press: 62.5kg (5/5/5)
    Power clean: 45kg (3/3/3/3/3)
    Chin ups: BW (6/5/5)

Lifts felt great today, especially bench. Chin ups felt horrible, however. I'm no where near used to consuming 13,000kJ, but I'm getting it in and not feeling too sick. Sleep has been good as well, 7-9 hours a night this week.

    Monday 5/4/2016

    Squat: 97.5kg (5/5/5)
    Press: 42.5kg (5/5/5)
    Deadlift: 95kg (5)
    Curls: 27.5kg (8/8/8)

Everything went well tonight and as planned, becoming much more comfortable with the squat and deadlift form as described in SS. Had a bit of a bad weekend sleep wise, but I think it was mostly due to my schedule, didn't affect me too much today, I had a nap before training which helped. Nutrition has been on point.

    Squat: 100kg (5/5/5)
    Bench press: 65kg (5/5/5)
    Power clean: 50kg (3/3/3/3/3)
    Chin ups: BW (6/6/5)

Today was a little off, but not too bad. Had a massive headache before training, took some pain killers and it was okay. Left outer calf is a little sore for some reason. I feel my feet are too far apart when I rack the clean, will review tonight.
