    Stats:
    Male
    39 Years old
    6ft 5"
    84.9kg

Began training on the StrongLifts 5x5 program. I lasted 12 weeks until I found Starting Strength which I decided to switch to imediately. Sadly I only lasted a few sessions before I became ill and picked up a few injuries which have kept me from training for over a month.

Due to this I've decided to begin Starting Strength from scratch. This way I can really concentrate on form rather than weight.

I do have some goals I'd like to achieve, all of which fall into category three of Strength Standards (bodyweight 90kg) found under the glossary section of this site. I've rounded up or down slightly due to lbs to kg conversion:

    Squat - 130kg

    Deadlift - 150kg

    Press - 66kg

    Bench Press - 96kg

    Power Clean - 93kg

It's early days, so who knows. I'll begin phase one of the novice's program tomorrow.

You are 6'5" and weigh less than 200 lbs.? Amazing.

I have a naturally lean body type best suited to endurance sports.

Before starting any type of strength training my baseline weight was around 76kg which I had been for most of my adult life.

Each week I'm gaining a little more weight.

Slow and steady wins the race.

    Bodyweight - 85.4kg

    Squat - 60kg
    3x5
Form was good, felt tight in the hips especially in the right with some added clicking for good measure. Tried to mentally go through all cues without over thinking to much.

    Press - 30kg
    3x5
Again, went through all the cues but found myself looking down on a few reps.

    Deadlift - 60kg
    1x5
last night I watched Rip's Starting Strength DVD on deadlifts. Found it helpful, especially the point of dragging the bar up the shins and not dropping the hips. At the end my lower back ached and it now feels tight. Hopefully after a good stretch it will ease off.

Felt good whilst training on Monday then later that day I began to feel achy with hot and cold sweats. Have been ill since with a virus so training has been cancelled. Another set back!

No training. Just feeding myself up and resting after catching a virus. Shall begin again on Monday.

    Press - 32.5kg
    3x5

    Deadlift - 65kg

Lost a bit of weight since last week, didn't manage to eat properly due to illness. All lifts felt good with no aches and pains.

Bought a GoPro so I can film my lifts. Will review the footage over the next few days and check for proper form.

Haven't put on any weight, but neither have I lost any. I'm back to eating six times a day with plenty of carbs and protein.

    Squat
    67.5kg
    3x5
Played back some video footage. Technique seemed reasonable without any major problems. Just need to remember to tighten up my core. I adjusted my head position slightly as I was looking straight ahead.

    Bench
    45kg
    3x5
Form was off as I'm out of practice. Just have to remember the cues and not just go through the motions.

    Deadlift
    70kg
    1x5
Form felt good, took my time insuring the bar was in contact with my shins.

Missed a couple of meals over the weekend, at least my weight stayed the same.

    Squat
    77.5kg
    3x5
Still progressing 5kg per session. Will continue for this week before reducing to 2.5kg.

    Bench
    47.5kg
    3x5
Need to work on technique as I'm all over the place. Knowing the right set-up cues will help.

    Deadlift
    80kg
    1x5
