Welcome. Most back problems are due to lack of strength. You are on the right track to strengthen your back. Go see Karl Schudt or one the other certified SS coaches in your area.

Those are odd numbers. I'd gather you are not following the model carefully or not at all. Linear Progression begins with 10 lb increases each session for Squat and Deadlift and 5 lb. increases for the presses. Do you have the book and are you using it? Have to gone to see a certified SS coach?

    starting strength coach development program
I have a back issue, and have purposely set my increments lower, and am no longer able to do clean. Yes I have both books, Yes I have gone to SS seminar with Rip, Steph, Karl, and Matt. I do not care if the slope of my linear progression is flatter than it would be with a 10lb increment, so long as I can continue to make gains without exacerbating my back issue. Lastly, thanks for your concern.
