Ray Williams just crushed the WR squat at SHW, so I looked it up on PLWatch to see what others have fallen too. Every squat record of worth (>=165) has fallen within the last 2 years. DL similarly have all fallen in the last decade with the exception of Ed Coan. The last Bench record to fall in a meet was all the way back in 1997! What is the difference? Training knowledge, consistency in a standard form, culture of the lift priority?

The raw bench record has gone through several changes since '97. If you're talking strictly IPF, not sure.

Ah, you're talking full meet benches. Gotcha.

Probably the rise of bench only meets. There are a couple of guys (Hoornstra, Kirilli who could beat the old WR if they did a full meet.

Stop talking yourself up, according to Google (which is always correct), Around 49.6 percent of the world's population is female, giving a total female population of around 3.52 billion in the world as of 2014. There are 101 men for every 100 women across the globe.

Who knows what has happened since 2014?

IMO, bench is more fiercely contested. As a result, the fiercer competition resulted in more lasting records. Source: my ass.
