    Hello Mark,

I've been trying to teach my girlfriend to squat and deadlift, but I have a problem. It seems that her arms can't be fully straightened and the elbows look a bit unlocked. I guess it would be a problem deadlifting this way.

    What's your opinion about it?

    Thanks for your help.

P.S. I received my copy of "Strong Enough?" a few days ago. Great book, funny and informational. Enjoyed it a lot.

Thanks for the kind words about SE? But why would you want her arms fully straightened on the squat? If she really can't get straight elbows on the pull, there may be problems, but not until the weight gets heavy. I'd keep working with her, until she runs you off.

I don't. The question is only about deadlifting.

Ok, I will try that, but when will I know the weight is too heavy to deadlift this way?

    Thanks for the reply.

You won't. She will. It will hurt.
