Default Texas Method Heavy Rep Scheme Question

    Hey all,

I've been running the Texas Method programming for about 8 weeks now, and I can certainly say that it works, Monday is rough, and it builds mental toughness if you don't already have any. My intensity day (Friday) has gotten to be a struggle regarding my 1x5 squats. I came to the conclusion last session that I would not be able to increase my 5 rep max, so I decided to pull a piece of advice from the Practical Programming book and change the consecutive Intensity day rep scheme to 3x2.

My question is this, should I apply it to the deadlift as well? I have alredy begun to realize that I cannot keep increasing my 5 rep max deadlift (as much as I sorely want to).

    Thanks guys and gals.

The deadlift doesn't drop into multiple sets on ID. Volume drops, but remains a single set: 1x5, 1x3, 1x2, 1x1

You can do 4s before triples. Squats and pulls are independent, so you don't have to switch just because of squats. But it's a good idea to switch before failure, rather than because of it.

Dude are you really doing one single heavy rep a week? An early intermediate can do a lot more . One triple I understand, but usually you try to get 4-6 heavy reps in total (not counting back offs).

And the liberal faction of the SS community continues to take root. [emoji55]
