No. A set of 5 is a set of 5. There is a difference. It's less draining because it's easier.
How do you feel about breaking up sets in to singles as a way to maximize recovery? For example, instead of a 1 x 5 DL, doing 5 singles? I have found it to be less draining overall, not to mention it allowed me to really focus on form and making corrections with each pull. But, I wonder if doing it this way causes adaptation in the same way that a set of 5 does, since instead of doing say a 5RM, you're really doing 5 singles at maybe 75% of 1RM. On the other hand, volume stays the same.
