First post here. Think I posted this originally in the wrong forum.

45 male, been lifting on and off since age 16. Six weeks into SS, and enjoying the remarkable gains without injury! Thanks Rip!
I was beginning to think that my gains were over at my age. But then I read the books.

Missed my squat today for the first time- 5,4,4. Two days ago, I missed my press- 5,5,4.

Do I stay with the same weight until I hit it, and then move on?
How many times should I attempt this current weight before deloading?

I am following the SS app, weights, sets, reps.
    Resting enough, I think.
Too much warm up? Should I skip one of the heavier warm up sets on the app, to save energy for the work sets?

    Thanks much!

General procedure is to attempt the weight three times. However, do read this first:

The First Three Questions | Mark Rippetoe

You won't make progress on the presses with five pound jumps. There are also a number of small programming tweaks you can make if you need a slightly less steep rate of increase. If you are, as your username suggests, an ER doctor who is 45 years old, you probably have some additional stressors that impact recovery. Tough to say more about that from here, however.

Thanks Tom. Good article! Maybe just an off week for me.
As long as I know to keep trying, as opposed to dropping weight, I will keep moving forward.

Also, be sure to check out Practical Programming. It discusses these topics in much greater detail than I can here.
