I’m a total novice to bench press, not even ego lifting in high school or college (I was a band nerd, not an athlete).

This is my fifth session of work sets (in fourth week of NLP). Apologies for the pit stains!

125lbs, started at 105. Third set begins at 0:57.

I think my grip width is good, based on the forearm position at the bottom. With long arms, I have a long way to press.

If I “track” my elbow, it isn’t a smooth arc, it’s jagged. But I consciously try not to let my elbows flare out.

    Hey Sean

Your elbows are getting behind the bar (head side) at the bottom. The elbows help to determine the trajectory of the bar path, and since we'd like a backward arc, we'd want the tips of the elbows to be in a position to help facilitate this. Think about leading with the elbows to the bottom and keep them a bit tighter to your torso than you are here. If you can get the elbow tips to stay in front of the bar, you'll have a better time driving it up and back to the lockout spot with a better bar path.
