I know it's still early going, but I truly feel that SS has given me focus in my workouts. While I was working out prior to beginning SS, I never understood how to truly make progress. The only pre-planning I did previously was determine which body part I would focus on prior to my workout. Other than that, I would merely bounce around to whatever machine was open and do whatever weight felt right given my current physical state during the workout.

I never approached my workouts from a progressive viewpoint and my progress over the past year reflects that 100%. I'm merely 3 weeks in and already breaking through my previous best efforts after over a year of gettig there. This stuff really works....
I know what you mean. Since I was able to keep a training log and everything since pretty much day 1 (despite many other forms of stupidity in my training) it seems like a trivial point to me, but when I hear other people talk about how they train I often realize how important setting goals is. So many people seem to just say "Yeah, I try to just get in when I can to do something". Which is fine, if that is all you want, but I can't imagine not feeling a little disheartened when I realize that, after a year has gone by, I am essentially in the same place I began.

Hello brothers & sisters of the steel. I hope the day finds you well.

Muddled through today. Went out for holiday drinks yesterday after work and I think the lack of sleep and fuzzy head certainly impacted my workout.

One interesting note to self for next week:

When doing PC's, don't keep your chin in the path of the bar as it travels up. Talk about seeing stars.... OUCH!!!

    SQ: 3 X 5 X 255
    BP: 3 X 5 X 200
    PC: 3 X 5 X 75

    Chins: 3 X 8 X BW + 37
    Dips: 3 X 8 X BW + 35

Looking forward to the rest over the weekend.

Good morning brothers and sisters of the iron. I had a great workout last night. Even though I was torn due to my NY Football Giants playing at the same time. As it went, I missed most of the first half, but I don't mind as tangible progress is more important.

The workout was smooth and I had plenty of energy. I guess those two days over the weekend really helped in spite of the Guinness on Sunday. Squats are beginning to feel very heavy but I'll keep pressing on.

    SQ: 3 X 5 X 260
    OP: 3 X 5 X 116
    DL: 1 X 5 X 310

Call me vain, but I also did some BB curls and rope pushdowns to round things out. All in it was a good session.

    Have a great day!

Oh, forgot my weight. Yesterday's weigh in had me at 177.4 and climbing....

That's 7 pounds thus far. I'll take it!

Didn't feel great tonight, but not bad either, somewhere in between. Didn't miss any reps but the last rep on each set felt heavier than usual tonight. I guess I'll just chalk it up to a long day at the office.

My wife made a killer 5 alarm chili which I'm chowing down on right now as my post workout meal. Two turkey burgers, each topped with the chili and an egg over easy. It tastes amazing!!

    As for my workout:

Squats are getting heavier and heavier...

    SQ: 3 X 5 X 265
    BP: 3 X 5 X 202
    PC: 3 X 5 X 95 I feel these are coming along nicely!!

    Chins: 3 X 8 X BW + 38#
    Dips: 3 X 8 X BW +40#

That's all folks! Have a great evening.

Felt good and strong today. I tend to feel better on Friday's when I get my workout done in the early afternoon rather than late at night. I only wish I could do it early like this every day but that damn thing called work gets in the way.

Squats are feeling heavier and heavier each time but I'm still nailing all 5 reps of each 3 sets. I feel like my eyes are going to pop out of their sockets on the last rep so it may be time for duct tape to avoid that

    Squat:
    3 X 5 X 270#

    Overhead Press:
    3 X 5 X 117#

    Deadlift:
    1 X 5 X 315#

    BB Curls:
    3 X 8 X 89#

    Rope Pushdowns:
    3 X 8 X 61#

Another week down and 1 month in the books. Homing in on 300# squat....

No workout last night, my kids had their Christmas Liturgy at school so I/m doing a T/Th/Sa split this week. I really think the 3 days rest helped me a lot as I felt very strong on squats tonight despite still going up another 5 pounds. Stringer in fact than I did on Friday night of last week. I guess that's a good thing.

Nutrition has been ok. With the holiday's so close I've really been eating like shit. Had a bunch of Cuban food today at a holiday party topped off with cheesecake. Oh well, it's only once a year.

    Squats:
    3 X 5 X 275#

    Bench Press:
    3 X 5 X 204#

    Power Clean:
    3 X 5 X 110#

    Super set Chins/Dips
    3 X 5 X BW + 40# / 3 X 5 X BW + 45#

    Have a good night!
