    Catching up...

    Fri, Jan 26, 2018
    Squat: 145 kg x 6 x 4 (319 lbs)
    Press: 50 kg x 6 x 3 (110 lbs)
    Deadlift: 143 kg x 6 x 3 (315 lbs)
    EZ Curl: 47 kg x 6 x 2, then 3 drop sets

DL with straps and shrug at the top.

Then almost 3 days of skiing in the Alps with my brother. Tons of snow and real sunlight (first time since forever), a dream of a week-end. Shamelessly skipped a training day.

Am I still in time to make the 'Sexton kicks it where it hurts' joke?
I actually believe the crowd was hoping he would finally shoot, and be what it may, rather than sit through the grind of another 41 phases of play. Top marks for commitment for the Irish team, but as a spectacle it was rather dour.

On other news, apparently someone has told the Italians that passing the ball is allowed, and that smashing your way with a rolling maul is not the only legal way to gain ground.

I am looking forward to a future when they will also learn about the D-word*.

    Hi IPB,

I don't know what you're talking about. And I don't want to. Please don't mention this Sexton whatever guy.

On the other hand, Italy game seemed pleasant to watch. Discipline was indeed a problem but my god it was refreshing. They're moving in the right direction I think.

    Back to my average efforts:
    Thurs, Feb 8, 2018
    Squat: 134 kg x 6 x 3 (295 lbs)
    Press: 53 kg x 6 x 4 (117 lbs)
    Deadlift: 165 kg x 6 x 1 (363 lbs)
    EZ Curl: 47,5 kg x 6 x 2, then 3 drop sets

They've been saying this for a long time. While Italy has clearly improved, the others have not stood still; we reach the goalposts, and we discover they have been moved a little bit forward. It's like being Achilles in that famous paradox, always covering half of the distance, and never reaching that pesky turtle.
Well, eventually he does, of course, but I am not sure they'll still be playing six nations rugby by then.

One little change in the rules that could help teams like Italy would be, I think, to limit the number of substitutions; as things are now, teams with a deeper bench can effectively send a second, fresh XV on the field for the last twenty minutes, and kill the game off.

I also dislike the fact that people can be hoisted up during the line-out; it's spectacular, but it's a bit contrived, I think. Ball should be contestable by who jumps higher, not who has the better circus routine.

Clueless rant over, I'll leave you to your fine efforts.

Well, last week-end did nothing to reassure both of us...

F*ck. I hadn't failed a rep in months... I hope it's lack of sleep and food, because if it's not, the next weeks will be hard. We'll see.
