First week with sunny weather since ages. Couldn't resist and went for a run during lunch break. I feel my 6 weeks without running.

    Deadlift: 181 kg x 6 x 1 (398 lbs, rep PR)
    Bench: 95 kg x 6 x 3 (209 lbs)
    RDL: 130 kg x 12 x 3 (286 lbs)
F*cking around (back extensions, curls and curls and curls)

I did the DL at 6 AM in my garage this morning, and the rest at the gym during lunch break.

So. No problem at all with my grip during deadlift: real chalk in abundance + usual knurling = win. So I've got a choice to make: either I decide to pull at the gym and I have to make it work grip-wise (a few thoughts: one of the barbells seems to have a sharper knurling, and I've read a thread around here about chalk ball and bag to use real chalk and not put it everywhere), or I pull in my garage early in the morning on fridays, but it means I'll sleep 30-45' less...

    Squat: 162.5 kg x 5 x 4 (358 lbs)
    Chins: 5 kg x 6 x 4 (11 lbs)
    Press: 60 kg x 5 x 3 (132 lbs)
    Front squat: 92.5 kg x 3 x 6 (204 lbs)
    DB Row: 36 kg x 20-18-15 (79 lbs)
F*cking around (lat pulldowns, seated rows)

Gym manager came loading a plate right under the right side of the bar, in the middle of my last set!!!! Had to wait like 30s between rep 3 and 4. As a result, form was waayy off.

I had once a couple of guys (I mentally called them Cip & Ciop, which is the Italian names given to Chip & Dale of Disney's fame) poking around a giant swiss ball right next to the rack where I was doing split jerks. As in, within striking distance of my leading leg. Once I finished my set, I made a fairly obvious point of loudly grabbing that ball* and setting it forcefully down on the other side of the gym. They were surprised and almost offended, and told me that "I should have said it might have been dangerous" for me; which clearly meant they couldn't work that out by themselves.

It's refreshing, in a disheartening way, to see that this sort of mindfuckery is not confined to the southern shores.

*Clearly a major faux-pas on my part; losing your cool like that is never cool, especially around these most cool and relaxed region.

It's clearly not confined to the south, but what upset me most was that it was the gym manager.

    Tues, Apr 24, 2018
    Bench: 107.5 kg x 5, 105 x 5 x 3 (237 lbs, rep PR)
    Deadlift: 165 kg x 5 x 3 (363 lbs)
    Incline bench: 55 kg x 12 x 3 (121 lbs)
    Dips: 15-11-8
F*cking around (DB bench press, DB flyes)

DL with straps and shrug at the top. First bench set was clearly my max, so I lowered a bit the weight to complete all sets.

Breaking news: empirical findings suggest mind-fuckery not confined to fitness rank-and-file, now spreading to higher ranks too.

Btw, congratulations on your bench PR. I seem to remember you getting all worried about missing an odd rep some time ago :-)

    starting strength coach development program
    Thurs, Apr 26, 2018
    Press: 65 kg x 4 x 2 / 64 kg x 5-4 (143 lbs)
    Squat: 155 kg x 5 x 3 (341 lbs)
Wide grip pullups: 7' density block (total 29 reps, +5)
    DB Press: 18 kg x 12-12-11 (40 lbs)
    Dips: 22.5 kg x 5 x 3 (50 lbs)
F*cking around (DB lateral raises, LTEs)

Pressed and squatted this morning in my garage. Was supposed to do 4 sets of 5 @ 65 kg, wasn't meant to be. Failed the last rep of the first 2 sets, took off 1 kg, got 5 reps at the third set but failed again for the last... At least I've got a new 5RM (64 kg / 141 lbs). Squat was way harder than it was supposed to be, too. So, bad day, early morning training, or inaccurate gym weights? We'll see. The rest of the workout was done at the gym.

Edit: I'm beginning to feel pretty beat up with this program. I don't know if I overreached on my maxes but I'm grinding reps every day. I'm OK with that but it's really tiring. My shoulders, arms and lo back ache regularly. Actually I'm kind of dreading next week. Will cut back on the f*cking around and try to get more sleep, but I'm considering doing something else in June/July.
