    Default Fighting Ole Man Time SS Log

    My name is Mike, a 41 year old who realized that my daughter would have suitors soon that I need to intimidate. Also didn't like the way my strength was decreasing.

    Guy at work recommended Starting Strength so I started at end of May kind of doing the program to fight ole man time. Kind of means
    No gomad and, as it turns out,
    Too short of rest period (~1:30 minutes btwn sets)

    Starting Monday, I upped it to 3:00 rest between the work sets to extend LP. I'll start tracking my progress as I move forward on the novice program. I will move to 4:30 minute rest after hitting the next wall before trying a reset. The shorter intervals were attempt to keep metabolism up and to keep the workout within the lunch hour, which is when I hit the gym.

    Starting Point as of 10-31-2011 with the previous rest intervals
    BW 241 lb (BF% around 20 according to scale, so who knows?)

    Deads => 1x425lbx5
    Squats => 3x370lbx5
    Press => 3x165lbx5
    Incline Bench => 3x235lbx5 (regular bench causes too much pain to train)
    Power Cleans => 5x185lbx3
    Chins 7,6,6 but fluctuates

    Welcome geezling. What's the problem you're having with regular benches?

    Thanks for the greetings. I hurt my shoulder (rotator cuff) playing baseball when I was younger coupled with bench pressing that bordered on insanity (both in amount and lack complementary back work) means I get really bad pain in about a workout. Inclines don't hurt it so I take the easy road.

    11-04-2011 Workout

    BW:245

    Squats
    1x135x10 Warm-Up
    1x315x3
    3x385x5,3,4 Forgot my belt so tried to go without. Form was iffy on first set, great for the the first two on second and great on the last until for some unknown reason I dropped my right elbow after the fourth rep. Would have continued if younger but stopped. 3min rest between worksets

    Incline Bench
    1x115x10 Warm-Up
    1x2055x3
    3x240x5 Pr felt like there was more in there but shall maintain the 5lb per workout bump. 3 min rest between worksets

    Deads
    1x225x8
    1x3151x5
    1x435x5 Need to find that belt
