Nice job Gene! You're an inspiration.
    Are you still riding (motorcycle)?

Yep, but not as much as before. I have my eye on the new Zero Motorcycle which is scheduled for release this fall. Awesome!

Had a heck of a work out on last Saturday, but I don't think I fully recovered by today. I had a terrible workout this morning. Interestingly I've failed right at my old PR levels. its like my muscles remember where my old PRs were and missed reps just as I get there! I sent a note to the Ask Rip part of the forum just now.

Anyway, here is my disaster of a workout.

    4/3/18
    226.7 lbs

    Squat: +5 lbs, 205x5x1

Barely made the last rep. Decided this was my first Intensity day for intermediate programing of the squat

    Press: +2.5 lbs, Intensity day, 97.5x0, 95x1

Intended to do three singles, but couldn't even lift it. Did one rep at 95 and that was it!

    Pull Downs: +5 lbs, 195x8x2, 5x3

I couldn't even do 3 sets of 8 on the cable pull downs. Bad day!

Oh well. Friday is another workout!

We all have days like that, Gene. Easy enough to regroup and come back stronger next time.

Just coming into the gym and doing what I can....

    Squat (intensity): +2.5 lbs, 207.5x5x1

    Press (Volume): 82.5x5, x4, 80x4, 75x4

These just wouldn't go up. Try 80 for 5x4 next time.

Chins: 4,4,4 At least I could pull myself up!!

    Friday, 4/13/18

    Squat (volume): +1.5 lbs, 186.5x5x4

    Bench (volume): reset, 140x5x4

    Dead Lift: repeat, 231x5x1

    Tuesday, 4/17/18

    Squat (Intensity): + 2.5lbs 210x5x1

Had some form problems. Knees collapsed, move to 3x2 next intensity day.

    Press (Intensity): 85x5x1

Starting the cycling of 5, 3, 1 on intensity day

    Chins: 4,4,4

    Friday 4/20/18

    Squat (Volume): + 1.5 lbs, 189x5x4

Bench (Intensity day): +2.5 lbs, 157.5x2x3 PR

    A PR for 2x3. Finally!

    Dead Lift: +5.5 236x3

Well I'm heading for Italy for a week and then a tradeshow and then my anual "guy trip" so no chance to work out for 3 weeks! Yikes! I'll have to do an LP when I come back to it.

Back from vacation in Italy. Wow the food there is unbelievable, as my new higher weight will attest. Just catching some workouts between trips.

    Squats (Just maintenance): 185x5x3

    Press (Just maintenance): 75x5x3

Chins: 4,3,2 (5 lbs heavier and I've lost some reps!)

I hear people say to stay away from the starches. If so, why are the Italians, Japanese, and Chinese generally so slender?

I don't know about the Japanese or Chinese but the Italians here in NY aren't to slim. The people in their native countries are probably slime because they work harder and work more.

There were lots of overweight people in Italy. Probably just as many or more as here.

I know a lot about Japanese. Part of their slimness is genetics. Part is that they eat tons of vegetables and really not that much rice.
