    2/25/19 (wow already?)

    Row: 500m
    Row: 1300m @ 2:02/500m

Shoulder still acting up a bit and needed to give it a little rest today. Work destroyed me and I felt it today as well. Will lift tomorrow and go get it. Getting older sucks. Down 17# from my highest weight and am almost half way through this cut.....please let it end so I can go back to driving hard!

    243.4#
    2500 cal
    250 gm protein
    300ish gm carb
    60 gm fat
    Starrrrving......

    Row 1900 @ 2:02/500m

Left shoulder fucking with me and is gimpy. Still have to give it time to heal which sucks during a cut. Not enough calories to drive a good heal on this shoulder and I might have to up the calories to keep from getting the shit beat out of me. Cutting officially sucks.

    3/4/19

    Row 500m @ 2:04/500m
    Squat: 405 3x3
    Bench 205 3x3
    DL: 315 2x3
    Row 1500m @ 2:01/500m

Upped the calories to help heal and reduced intensity and volume to build back up. No more pressing for me until this shoulder heals. Might try to implement incline bench to get as close as I can without messing with life but we shall see. Rows coming along just fine.

Deadlifts coming along slowly...still recovering from that WTF grind in November when the flooring in the gym compressed on me and made me pause squat at 465 while feeling like I was on a bosu ball.

244.4 pounds....so essentially no movement on the weight front but my waist measure is slowly going down so I think I am doing a good job of maintaining muscle mass as I go through this miserable cutting experience....Can’t wait to ge back up to 4500 calories and lifting like a monster again....

    Row: 500m @ 2:12/500m
Lotsa shoulder stretching and back stretching
    Row: 1700m @ 1:58/500m

The stretching really helped out my left shoulder and I am just going to have to take the extra time to work out that shoulder before lifting from now on. Rippetoe makes the comment (I am paraphrasing) that you just need to do the exercises to have them act as a stretch and that no extra stretching is needed. I understand that most of the stretching routines out there are a waste of time and detract from the ability to maximize effort/time towards building strength. I am not sure I agree with him or whether he was making the comment from the non rehab perspective. I guess I will have to dig through the forum to find out.

Today’s row was a release for me as I did not feel my shoulder fucking up. I think between the stretching to open up the shoulder, extra food to support healing, and a lot of sleep for once, I had the energy and capacity to go take it on.

I think I am getting to the end of this round of cut. I am getting pretty beat up and need to recover a bit before I go again. I would like to go to a competition this year and see how I do as a 42 year old masters lifter so will need to start training again soon.

    Row: 500m
    Sq: 405 3x3, 365 1x5
    Bench 215 3x3, 185 1x5
    Dead 365 1x3, 315 2x3
    Row 1800m @ 1:59/500m

Arm tender and had to slowly work my way under the bar for the squat. No issues phew. Bench was a pull back until I heal. This cut is messing with my lifting numbers but I know it’ll come back as soon as the food tap turns on. Cautious with the deadlift as well. Been a while and I need to be careful especially under caloric deficit conditions. Overall a good day. I can tell my arm is slowly healing.

    Row 500m
    Row 1900m @ 1:59/500m

Coming off my cut. I have had enough. 20# down and I need a break before getting the next 20# off. Going to continue the conditioning component as part of my workout because I got tired of getting out of breath putting on my shoes. This has been a successful cut And I will reflect on lessons learned when I get off work in a couple days.

Family emergency called me out of town and absorbed my time. Didn’t lift at all until today and barely got this in. Been physically and emotionally rough this week and I am grateful for the distraction that lifting provides. Dropped weight a bit to account for the extreme stress I have been managing as well as the extra time off I have had to take. Will drive on going forward. I am going to outline my programming sometime in the next week. It’s time to get the drive on now that I have taken a pause in this cut.

I’ve been thinking, it’s cool to see another guy on the boards that likes to row, and now I see you using CoC grippers. I’ve got a T and a 1.5 on my nightstand I can easily do 8 1.5 reps with my right hand, but maybe 1 on my left...

The last time I pushed 445 deadlift my grip gave out so I am trying to get ahead of that sticking point. I guess I never trained grip outside of deadlift and the rest of my life doesn’t use a lot of grip work to be successful. I am glad there are other ppl who like to row as well!
