Default 2013 APF IL Raw Power Challenge - 12/8/2013

I weighed in the morning before at 61.9 (136.4), and competed in the submaster division.

    Squat
    92.5 (203.7) - Meet PR
    102.5 (225.7) - Fail
    102.5 (225.7)- Fail

My nerves got the best of me. I was really a nervous wreck for no reason. I aimed so damn high and then I chocked. My legs literately felt like jelly. Hind sight, I should have opened with a lower weight, made a smaller jump, and been a little more realistic with my goals. If I look for my silver lining, 203.7 is a meet PR.

    Bench
    47.5 ( 104.5)
    50 (110) - PR
    52.5 (115.5) - Fail

I was so much more relaxed by this time. I'm happy with my bench.

    DL
    100 (220.2)
    105 (231.2) - PR
    107.5 (236.7) - PR

I lowered my opener from 225.7 to 220.2. After my horrible squat performance, I just wanted to be sure I got all 3 lifts in. I got my nerves in check and just focused on the loaded barbell. The new plan had been to go from 220.2 to 225.7, but 220.2 felt really solid, so I went up to 231.2 instead. I had to work for 231.2, so I played it safe and only went up 6 pounds instead of 11. 236.7 moved up easier than 231.

    TOTAL: 250 (550.4)

Once I calmed my nerves, I had a great time! It was exciting to see my husband lift in his first meet! The people at the meet are always great. We got to meet Callador, danradin, & Hamburger! All amazing lifters! We all got trophies! (Mine was a default trophy since I was the only one in my division).

Congrats, Aleli!! Sounds like a great meet, and it looks like you did a great job of figuring out what you needed to do!

(I can totally identify with being overly nervous for the squats!)

Great work! My contest doesn't happen until March 1. Maybe I can reach my DL goal of 330 by then. You competed in three lifts. That's much more courageous than I'm trying.
