Stretches in prep for squat 5 X 2. It helped a little. I could get the bar down/back a little bit more. I asked Sully to point to how far back I had to go after the stretching. I still had about 2 inches. I think I gained about an inch throughout the high bar squats. Progress is progress. Someday I'll do a proper low bar squat.

    Squat: 45 X 6; 65 X 6; 85 X 4; 95 X 2; 105 X 1; 115 X 5 X 3. It isn't the weight that's the problem. My problems have to do with technique. But it's getting better.

Press: 45 X 5; 55 X 5; 65 X 5; 70 X 5 X 3. A couple of the presses were so wobbly on top Sully asked me if I was trying to kill him. It seems my years of desk work have left my core in need of more strength. Though I'm much less pudgy than I was just 3 months ago I still have a way to go. I used to joke with my son who at the time had a 6 pack that I did him better. I have a whole case. It isn't so funny now. I'll work on that.

Deadlift: 55 X 5; 95 X 5; 135 X 5; 185 X 3; 225 X 1; 225 X 5. I'm excited just typing it. I switched to alternate grip for the 225 lifts because I wasn't sure that the regular grip would hold. Still I did them. The alternate grip caused the bar to move out from the shin an inch or so. I'll work on that. Many of the lifts were done correctly.

    Thanks again to Doctor Sullivan.

I don't believe Hercules would stop at 225. I'll keep on pulling.

    Bench: 45X 5; 65 X 5; 85 X 5; 95 X5; 110 X 5 X 3.
Squat (Still high bar): 45 X 6; 70 X 5; 90 X 3; 100 X 5 X 3. Coach decided I need to reload because, while I show improvement on bar placement and I'm not consistently deep enough I need to remain at 100 until I can work out those problems. I am now within 1" of bar on back placement. Flexibility remains a problem but I'm making headway.
Stretching and stomping to increase flexibility and as preparation for power snatch. Ah, someday. Maybe even I'll be able to do some ballroom dancing someday with my wife. I am, after all, from Chicago.

Thanks. I'm not going to expose my torso just yet but it is looking better.

Squat: Still high bar but getting very close. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll get the bar on my back where it belongs. 45 X 6; 70X 3; 95 X 1; 95 X 2.
    Press: 54 X 5; 55 X 5; 65 X 2; 72.5 X 3
    Deadlift: 55 X 5; 105 X 5; 135 X 3; 175 X 2; 205 X 1; 230 X 3 Sully noticed some sloppiness in the last lift so limited me to 3. The weight is not the problem but technique is.

    5/8/13

    Squat: 45X8; 65 X 5; 85 X 3; 95 X 5; 95 X 1; 95 X all kinds of stretches. This is taking a long long time but I do show mini steps of progress toward flexibility.
    Bench: 45 X 5; 70 X 5; 84 X 4; 95 X 2; 115 X 5 X 1; X 4; X 3. I made too big a jump.
    Power Snatch: Several complexes plus 10 X 3 X 5.

This was after a hiatus because of my brother's death, needed trip as a grandpa, and my wife's hospitalization. I think my bench suffered from the missed week.

I figured that I should wander in and say hello, since you were kind enough to post on my log. It looks like you're making really good progress, so congrats on that! I'm sorry for your loss as well.
