    This was a better day at the gym. 72 hours of rest is much better than 36 for this old guy.

    Squat Stretch (I'm going to my Doctor. I've put up with this baloney far too long. I will find out whether or not there is anything to be done for these old bones and joints or not short of surgery. If not I will try to grow old gracefully.)

    Squat: 70 x 5; 120 x 5; 160 x 3; 191 x 5 x 3.
    Bench: 45 x 5; 95 x 5; 135 x 2; 153 x 1; 165 x 1; 176 x 0

    Prowler: 0 x 4; 85 x 6 x 4

    Not a bad day, but did fail on a couple of press attempts.

    Squat stretch
    Squat: 221 x 2 x 2 I still have trouble consistently getting full depth. They are always close but frequently not quite there.
    Press: 102 x 1 x 1 These were supposed to be 2 x 2
    Dead: 315 x 1; 335 x 1 I found a secret weapon for Deads. It's amonia. It was like jet propulsion. 352 should come up very soon.

    Ammonia, huh? I'm aware it's done by powerlifters and strength athletes sometimes; I've not looked more deeply into it. Got easy access to medical supply; you just use smelling-salts breakables, or something else?

    Ammonia Inhalents. Yes, smelling salts breakables. I never tried it before but it did wonders.

    Did you have any negative sideffects from the ammonia?
    I guess that if you use it to often you will adapt to it and then to get the desired effect you have to increase the dose.

    No side effects so far. I've only used it once and if I can lift 352 before October without it I won't be using it again at least until after October.

    Regarding my visit with my GP. Dr. Klein showed me a few exercises that should help make my back muscles as strong as my anterior deltoids in a few years. It took him 5 years to reach that point. Who knows, maybe they will help me enough so I can do some kind of straight bar squat this fall. In any event it's not likely to hurt unless I tear a muscle.
