Default Welp, first meet is under my belt

Illini Powerlifting put on a charity meet on Sunday, so I decided to do it with my two friends / training partners since it was local. It was just a push pull, so I just the bench press and deadlift were tested. Went 5/6, so that was alright.

    BW: 193.5(didn't realize I weighed that. thought I was ~ 188. Oops)

Bench: 75 kg (good) / 80 kg (good) / 82.5 kg (no lift)

Not really sure what happened. 80 was meh, but I thought I could do ~ 5 more lbs. Bar got about 3 inches off my chest and I couldn't ground it out. I *really* need to fix my shitty shitty bench.

    Deadlift: 160 kg (good) / 165 kg (good) / 170 kg (good)

My grip got a little messed up on the first two lifts, and I was worried about the third one. Two of the judges (old dude and a woman) just told me to squeeze the shit out of my bar (and thumb, when I started to hook it), and it went up smooth as silk. Probably could have done 175 kg. Oh well, next time.

The meet was pretty well run, with the exception of computer glitches at the beginning that delayed things a little bit. After that, everything was run pretty smoothly, the atmosphere was great and supportive, and I couldn't ask for a better first meet.

Also, I got to wear this singlet:

    S: 45x5x2, 95x5, 135x5, 185x3, 225x1, 245x5x3
    OP: 45x5x2, 65x5, 85x5, 95x2, 110x5x3
    PCs: 95x3x2, 115x3, 125x3, 130x3x3,2x2
No time for chins. REALLY need to hurry shit up at the gym.

    Notes:

S: I was a little worried about squats, since this is getting pretty close to my pr (250x3), but the first set was easy. Second and third were a little difficult, but there was definitely no chance of me failing. That's a pretty good feeling. Onward to 255 next time.

OP: I am still trying to work out the hip timing thing. I really really need to work on this. As Karl said to me, once the weight gets heavy, the last thing you want to do is move your hips. Going to really focus on this next time.

PCs: Not really sure what happened on the last sets. The first three sets and the first two reps of the last two sets were absolutely fine, then the bar just came up to my sternum on the last rep of the last two sets. Might have been getting tired and allowed some arm bend or something. I might get greedy and go up to 135 and see how much I can do next time. Not sure.

    BP: 45x5x2, 75x5, 105x5, 135x3, 155x1, 160x5x3
    DL: 135x5x2, 225x5, 265x1, 305x1, 350x2

    Notes:

PRs on squat and bench. Squats are getting hard. I'm pretty sure I GMed the last rep of the last set hard. But I got through them. Now I have to decide whether to slow down to 5 lb increases or see if I can go balls to the wall until I literally can't to 10 lb increases anymore. As a side note, this is the first time, ever, when I really just wanted to lie down between sets.

    Benches were fine.

On deads, I did something to my lower back on the second rep. It felt like a minor muscle pull, so I got worried about it and didn't try for the third. Ugh. I'd really really like to get 5 of these.

Thanks. Yeah, it was weird. It wasn't thaaaat bad, but my back is still a little stiff. Probably be better by Saturday, I'm guessing. First time anything like that has happened while lifting.

    Notes:

Squats were easier than on Thursday, when I felt like I needed to lie down between sets. This is a good sign.

Presses, on the other hand, sucked hard. Not really sure what happened. I did something weird on the first rep of the first set, and, while I got it up, it took a lot out of me. Gross.

Cleans were pretty solid. Onward to a plate clean next time.

ETA: I was slightly worried that my tweaked back would give me issues with what I was supposed to do today, as it was still a bit stiff. There weren't any problems with it, though.
