It was a different kind of soreness today after doing low bar squats for volume on Monday. Instead of my legs and low back burning I felt it more in the glutes, hamstrings and hips when squatting today.

I'm going to play it conservative and go for 145kgx5 on squats on Friday. Everyone keeps saying my squat should balloon up as I've started doing low bar now. I'm hoping this is the case!

Add some weight to those damn chinups!! :P

The LBBS glutes and ham tenderness will quickly pass. I first (badly) squatted high bar too, and suffered the same kind of issues as I made the switch. You just gotta bear with it, don't go too mental trying to chase your previous bests with HBBS. It'll be second nature in a couple of weeks.

Aye I really should. I'll add a plate next week and see what I can rep out!

It's a weird feeling but I should get used to it. Don't worry I'll take it easy and only squat three plates for volume next week ;-)

On another note, isn't being an intermediate lifter a bit shite. Gains feel really slow. Although, I can't complain as I did make a good but of progress on my high bar squat on TM. My press has progressed too. Bench has been near the 90kg mark for 5 reps for months though.

So yeah, not a great session. I really don't like low bar squats :-) Why change/fix something that isn't broken? I was progressing on high bar fine so i'm going to switch back to doing them on volume day.

I should have done another set of triples on bench but forgot as I actually wanted to get 5 reps but it was never going to happen.

Back logging this log from last night as I've been too busy to post this training session until now.

I forgot to do hang cleans but apart from that this session was good.

First time in a long time doing weighted chinups. Managed to grind out a weighted chin with 20kg (44lbs) for 5 reps which is a PR. I really want to get stronger on these and be repping out a good amount of weight.

Great session. Great form on high bar squats.

I misloaded the bar for squats though. I was planning on doing 157.5kgx2x3 so no PR today :-(

Rack pull was a piece of piss. Room to grow on these.

Going to have a bath with epsom salts as apparently that helps muscle recovery. TM isn't for the faint hearted...

You still did 2 triples with 155kg... fucking HIGH BAR @ 83kg BW! Maybe not a PR, but consider 95% of all of us in this community don't actually venture near the HBBS... It's an impressive distinction!

When you put it like that it doesn't seem all that bad!

I do like high bar squats, I have to admit. Ever tried them?
