Its a good idea to have a meet coach. Someone who knows you well. I always have 2 game plans for attempts, all my warm ups and attempts are listed before I arrive. I give them to my buddy Jim. We talk about the what ifs ahead so we know how we are going to handle things.

I always bring my buddy Jim, we are both USAPL Coaches. He coaches me at my meets and I coach him at his. It takes a lot of pressure off you as a lifter knowing you have someone
Smart solution, both know coaching, lifting and competing.

Default 57bergstrm an elderly beginner log

    22/5-16 sunday
    Squat worksets 90kgx2, 97,5x1, 105x1, 110x1 PR

    Press worksets
    43kgx3, 44x3, 45x2, 46x1x3, 41x5

    Notes
Been traveling a lot and working hard and today all day with Marcus driving to and cheering at his rugbymatch, so I been off training 4 days.
Nice to do a new PR on squat, the press was weak, I wanted to do 5reps, but failed, got three. So I decided to go up intensity, that felt good. So now I go for alternating 1-3 reps with 5-3 rep range, Im close to my 5rm and it worked before. It got late so I do my DL tomorrow. My weight is slowly moving down even though I eat some shitty food while traveling and living in hotels.

    23/5-16 Monday
DL workset tried and did a new PR 145kgx1
    Backoff 115x5x2

    Notes
Great with a PR I have been waiting for my DL to start moving, and the hookgrip has been a great help.

    another Hook convert.
it amazes me how many times I see someone's dl go up soon after they start hooking. Yet most people resist it.

congrats on the PR....more to come

    28/5-16 saturday
    Squat workset 97,5kgx5

    Press
    Worksets 43kgx3 missed 5
    Back down 40kgx5x5

    Note
Fift rep on squat was extremely hard, the press is weak, I have to get more volume, change to 5x5. Saving my deadlift for tomorrow.

    29/5-16 sunday
    Bodyweight 97,4kg

    Deadlift worksets
    137,5kgx2 failed 4 reps, did 137,5x2x2, 137,5x1
    Total 7reps
    Backoff with straps 120x5, 115x5

    Notes
Weak DL, did some extra sets to volume up. More then Im used to, it might help me next time, then the straps was a new experience, a tip from Lou. As I understand it will save my cns? Plus the lift gets more symetrical.
